Dutch soprano Zinzi Frohwein started her vocal studies in 2009 at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague where she was coached by Sasja Hunnego. In 2013 she graduated cum laude, with an honourable award for ‘Outstanding vocal, musical and performance skills in a wide variety of styles’. She was also awarded the Fock Medal for having completed the best exam of the year.
Zinzi continued her vocal studies at the Dutch National Opera Academy where she was being coached by Peter Nilsson, Nathalie Doucet and Brian Masuda. At the Dutch National Opera Academy she sang the roles of Contessa in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, Silvia Lombardi in Korngold’s Die Stumme Serenade and graduated in 2015.

From the 2016/17 until the 2018/2019 season Zinzi has been a member of the ensemble at Theater Nordhausen, Germany. After this season, Zinzi returned often as a guest in Theater Nordhausen.

She sang the role of Violetta in La Traviata, Desdemona in Otello, Mimi in La Bohème Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus, Blanche in Dialogues des Carmélites, Frau Fluth in Die Lustigen Weiber von Windsor an Cendrillon in Cendrillon at Theater Nordhausen, La Dame élégante in Les mamelles de Tirésias and Youca in Chabrier’s L’étoile with the Dutch National Opera, Berta in Il Barbiere di Siviglia with the Nederlandse Reisopera, and Lucy in Die Dreigroschenoper in the Royal Concertgebouw.

Zinzi has worked with conductors Pavel Baleff, Michael Helmrath, Daniel Klajner, Johannes Pell, Patrick Fournillier, Antonino Fogliani, H.K. Grüber and Etienne Siebens and directors Katharina Thoma, Anette Leistenschneider, Ted Huffman, Zack Winokur, Laurence Dale, Laurent Pelly, Marc Krone, Wilma Sekrève and Marcel Sijm.
She participated in master classes with Eva-Maria Westbroek, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Christa Ludwig, Ira Siff, Margreet Honig, Jard van Nes, Dennis O’Neill and Doris Soffel.
